St.
Paul — The Taxpayers League of Minnesota honored Representative Chris
Gerlach (R- Apple Valley) recently for his 2001 voting record with its
'Best Friend of the Taxpayer' award.
The award was given to only nine lawmakers in the 201-member Minnesota Legislature who
received a perfect score of '100' on a series of votes rated by the Taxpayers League as key votes
on taxes, the size and scope of government, and free enterprise.
Rep. Gerlach received the 'Best Friend of the Taxpayer' award because he voted favorably
on legislation reforming property taxes; returning tax surpluses; rejecting lawmaker pay
increases; reducing frivolous lawsuits; reducing state health insurance costs; preventing voter
fraud; prohibiting same-sex benefits for state employees; and rejecting anti-competitive gas
pricing.
The Taxpayers League 2001 rating of all 201 Minnesota legislators can be found on the
Internet at www.taxpayersleague.org.
